Strivright- The Auditory Oral School of New York (AOSNY) was founded by Pnina Bravmann, a highly trained expert in the field of Audiology and Speech Pathology, and the mother of a hearing-impaired child herself. Over the past 12 years, Strivright-AOSNY has helped well over 3,000 children, and we continue to make miracles happen every day.
Strivright-AOSNY has a bold "yes, we can" approach, where children with hearing, speech, and processing issues are taught to speak, hear, play, and ultimately integrate completely into mainstream schools. Our philosophy is aimed at enabling our students to go on to live absolutely unlimited, successful lives with all social opportunities, academic choices, and career options open before them.

Strivright-AOSNY offers a number of different programs to help your child in an effective, convenient context.
The earlier a child is diagnosed with hearing loss, speech delays, or processing issues, the better the chances that the child can be mainstreamed. Our multi-disciplinary team evaluates children from birth to 3 years and delivers intensive, quality services individually and in small groups.
We offer a comprehensive range of services to children ages 3-5 in our brand-new, state-of-the-art building. Strivright-AOSNY is the stepping-stone towards mainstreaming hearing-impaired children into classes with their peers. The curriculum focuses on socialization skills within the model of a regular education preschool classroom. We provide the following services in small groups and class settings:
Children can also be evaluated and receive services in other convenient settings, such as your home or daycare. Strivright-AOSNY can all of the above services in your home or another location.
Strivright-AOSNY offers parents the opportunity to be an integral part of the process through individual parent/child sessions. Parents are trained how to encourage listening, speech and language. These services are available both at Strivright-AOSNY or at home.
Strivright-AOSNY is proud to now offer STARS, a convenient after-school program with speech, occupational, physical, music, drama, dance and social therapies. Now there is no need for your child to leave his or her classroom during the day. With the STARS program, Strivright-AOSNY can provide our quality care following regular school hours in our new state-of-the-art building.
We offer a variety of exciting, stimulating activities and programs, including:
Music Therapy: Our board certified music therapist leads a program where children participate in singing, vocal exercises, rhythm, and movement.
Art: Children can express themselves with fun, creative and therapeutic materials - and they get to bring their works of art home afterwards.
Field Trips: Strivright-AOSNY students can enjoy hands-on experiences in field trips such as a fire station, doctor's office, zoo, farm, botanical garden, vegetable patch and more!
Performing Arts: Our students can perform in plays and school-wide events for parents and other classes.
Evaluations can be conducted in the child's home or in our center. Bilingual evaluations are available. Results of assessments are shared and explained to the parents. All inquiries are strictly confidential.
Our top-notch department provides complete evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic services for the following areas:
Strivright-AOSNY provides first-rate speech and language therapy. Our highly skilled speech-language pathologists specialize in treating children with processing disorders and hearing impairment. Our philosophy focuses on teaching children to speak and hear, not relying upon compensatory skills such as sign language or lip reading. We offer services in-school, after-school, or at-home, and we treat many types of speech-language difficulties, including:
Strivright-AOSNY offers high-quality occupational and physical therapy to strengthen and reinforce fine motor skills and sensory integration
Our licensed psychologist and social worker are available to all parents and children. Individual play therapy for children is also available to stimulate further social and emotional well-being.
Parent Support Groups are also available to give parents the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with each other in a warm, supportive group setting.
Strivright-AOSNY offers a six-week program during July and August that builds on foundations and concepts through fun summer activities. We have many exciting outings for children and parents to enjoy, including picnics, barbeques, parks and gardens.

We've been helping children in New York for over a decade, and our parents have had a lot to say about what we do!
When Shira came to the school, she had a lot of difficulty expressing herself. Now she’s a different child. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Our son Jack was born with profound hearing loss in both ears. We came to AOSNY/Strivright-AOSNY because of the excellent reputation that is had for working with hearing impaired children from and early age. It was the best decision we could have made for Jack.
Jack's progress has been steady and remarkable. We both know that his education at Strivright-AOSNY has been essential in his development. What Pnina and her staff do at the school is nothing short of miraculous.
- Jack’s Dad
From the moment we entered your building with our daughter, we knew this was the place for her. Chava has grown and blossomed over this year thanks to the warm, caring and dedicated teachers, therapists and staff. Their professionalism and concern for each child help make AOSNY/Strivright-AOSNY the wonderful place it is. We are so grateful for everything...
- Chava’s Mom
I have seen tremendous progress with Eliana’s speech [and] social skills. She has grown into a mature beautiful girl that I can be very proud of.
- Eliana’s Mom
Strivright-AOSNY taught him all the skills necessary for him to succeed socially and academically. Thanks to his teachers and therapists, he is doing beautifully in mainstream.
- Henry’s Mom
Lawrence has grown into an honest, considerate, hardworking young boy, and we know that we have Strivright-AOSNY to thank for that.
The one-on-one attention Lawrence received from your teachers has made him confident in his abilities and sparked his interest in many different subjects. Strivright-AOSNY is a supportive community focused on giving each student the best education possible.
- Lawrence’s Mom
Around this time last year, he could barely say Mommy or Papi. [But] since Marco has started school at Strivright-AOSNY, his speech has improved, he knows his ABC’s, he can count from 1 to 20, and he knows most of the colors. He talks so much at home that we cannot keep him quiet.
We appreciate all the work that the staff at Strivright-AOSNY has done for our little Marco. Thank you very much.
- Marco’s Mom
What an impact you have made in Kemmy’s life! From not being able to sit still, not speaking, and not comprehending, he’s now a child who can sit in a classroom, learning and soaking in all that’s going on around him.
- Kemmy’s Mom
All children must be evaluated prior to enrollment. For your child to be admitted into Strivright-AOSNY, the parents must be committed to being partners with the school in your child's auditory and oral education.
Children who are approved through the NYC Department of Health (ages 0-3) or the NYC Board of Education (ages 3-5) are eligible to receive services at no cost to parents. Children who are not approved through these sources or are above the age of 5 will be charged tuition. A scholarship fund is maintained to assist parents who are in need of financial aid.
Strivright-AOSNY admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
As the parent of a child in Strivright-AOSNY, you are an active and important part of your child's growth and success. And even after your child has moved on to a mainstream school, we value and appreciate the continued connection with our devoted Strivright-AOSNY alumni.
